prelude to a kill
Good grief Charlie Brown. For the last couple weeks, I've barely had five minutes to take the time to sit down and eat a meal. Partly, I'll confess, because I have been watching much basketball. So I must slake your thirst for knowledge of the Panhandle, kind reader of blog, and without further ado, a rundown of the last few weeks...
(1) Got Revel Blue back. Drives like a dream, and he's happy to be home. Alas, since I've had him back, I have to confess that I've got a bone to pick with Blue. 12 miles per gallon isn't going to cut it much longer. For much of the time I was sans Jeep, I had the privilege of driving an Escalade. A gigantic, gas-guzzling, blinged-out Escalade. And that Escalade got better gas mileage than Blue. Grrr... Accordingly, a second vehicle is in my future. One with only four cylinders, street tires, and aerodynamics better than a two-ton refrigerator. Cheap and ugly would be ideal, but JRol's Prelude would be ideal-er. Conventional wisdom will tell you that buying a car from your closest friend is a bad idea. But taking advantage of your closest friend who is desperate to unload said car is a really tempting counter to the conventional wisdom.
(2) Spent pretty much all of last week in the courtroom. That was fun and a great experience. But I got behind on my real work as a result. So I'm learning that going to court isn't all it's cracked up to be at times.
(3) Ate an entire Sharky's burrito the other day. Had to sleep in the next day.
(4) Lost at poker, yet again, on Friday night. This is becoming a pattern.
(5) Like I said, basketball. As I type this, Texas just sank a three-pointer to advance to the Elite Eight with 0.08 seconds left on the clock. Gotta love basketball.
