is this like the risk you take when you sent your food back?
I remember Her Honor warning me many years ago that if I didn't stop acting like a smart aleck, someone might take it the wrong way someday, and I'd be sorry. I hope that what I did today doesn't lead to just such a result.
Today I sent three checks to the Clerk of the Supreme Court of the State of Texas - for my dues, my licensing fee, and my occupation tax. These checks totaled up to a not insignificant amount of cash. After three years of law school, not to mention a bar exam, I'm a little whipped at the fact that I have to pay even more money out to attain licensed attorney status.
Accordingly, like any anal retentive and embittered litigator, I couldn't resist sending a letter along with the checks on official law office letterhead so that there would be no mistake in the recipient's greedy cortex about what the checks were for.
Instead of a terse, insincere salutation, I ended the letter thusly:

"Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter; I hope you are as pleased to receive these checks as I am to be a newly licensed attorney."What do you think the Supreme Court's version of spitting in my bacon cheeseburger is?
